Don't forget to follow me on Bloglovin!

Hey all! Google Reader is closing tomorrow. Please follow me using Bloglovin. I really love this blog reader. It's super easy to import all your blogs.

You can follow me by clicking that little icon on the right of your screen.

Plus, you don't want to miss any of my blog. I know I have been a total suckfest by not updating, but please bear with me. I am working a lot of hours, and when I get home I pretty much just lay comatose in front of Family Guy reruns.

But no more! My hours will even out this week (at least, that's what I'm hoping!) and because of my new income, I can actually afford to work on some projects!

Including something that may have to do with this:

And is it just me, or is everyone else pretty much hating how Pinterest embedding doesn't work anymore? I couldn't get that crap to work for the life of me. The Hubs is trying to be nice to me, but I'm pretty sure he thinks I'm crazy arguing with my computer.

Back from Florida!

I got back from Florida on Wednesday. After giving her the idea, my sister currently has to make about 12 of these:

Just to give you an idea: We went through 1100 pins to make 2 cubes. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I need to get new glasses because all of the staring has messed up my eyes. Thankfully, it's so freaking awesome that we're okay with how tedious the project is! There will also be a photobooth, chicken wings and great music in the warehouse of a local brewery.

May I get remarried?

What did I do on Sunday? I got colorful!

Remember a billion years ago when I mentioned all my New Year resolutions?

Well, I just accomplished one on Sunday!

I ran my first ever 5k. Okay, running is an overstatement. I jogged/speed walked/sprinted/whimpered my way through it. Only half a mile in my shin started to throb. I have shin splints from all the running I've been doing. I get to buy new shoes!

Before we started. So clean!

Anyway, we ran the Color Me Rad 5k and it was a blast! For those who aren't familiar with Color Me Rad (Or The Color Run, The Graffiti Run, Color Mob, etc), you run a 5k and at checkpoints you get pelted with color cornstarch or color water spray. In the end, you look like a rainbow and your boogers are the color of Skittles. If you're a mouth breather like me, clench your mouth shut or you'll have multi-color teeth.

Even though I had to walk a good portion of it, I ended up finishing under an hour. I won't lie, I cried during the first mile and a half. My shin was burning, and even though I said I was only going to do it for fun, I started hating how slow I was. Around the 2 mile mark, a family standing along the line high fived me. It was just what I needed to get myself going again. Someone also smacked The Hubs' butt and said, "Good going!" Oh, Albuquirky...

So I finished, and I was filthy, but so so proud.

And I may be contemplating another 5k toward the end of the year. I like having something to train for. I hope next year I will kick way more booty. Another resolution was to try running one mile without stopping. I still have a way to go, but I'll get there!

And we're going to see how well Tide works. My poor sports bra got tie dyed.

Where the Hell-O Operator Have I Been?

I have been a busy little bee. Sorta. Okay, not really. Well, a little.

Trying to finish up things before I go back to work. Baby munchkin will either show her face on the 24th or sooner.

I've been training for this:

And preparing for my trip to see my sister who lives here:

I've got quilts on the brain!

I'm going back to work soon (end of April) to watch the new baby sister of my favorite munchkin. I love making gifts for new babies over buying. It may take a little extra time, but well worth it for a quality gift.

I absolutely adore quilts. Growing up, my sister and I both had a few quilts made by my grandma and aunt. I had a yellow and green Holly Hobbies applique tied quilt. It was made by my aunt, and I literally loved it to pieces. It's currently in tatters.

My sister made herself a new quilt when her old one fell apart. She nearly threw this baby away! I kept it, and I have plans to turn her quilt into something new. It's sweet and shouldn't get tossed.

A few days ago I found some jelly rolls at Big Lots. Jelly rolls are strips of fabric used for quilting. The patterns were so sweet, and after doing some math, I realized I'd have enough to make a crib quilt for the currently baking baby munchkin.

I may now have a new obsession...

Thrifty Thursday: inexpensive art.

I haven't really done much thrift shopping in the past few months. It seems that this month has been major thrift shop time!

Usually I'm looking for things to revamp, craft supplies and fun decor items. Lately, I've been wanting more art around the house. I love rooms that have tons of collected pieces. They feel so homey and cozy! Here are a few spaces that I think feel unique and happy.

I need a bigger car aka I ruined our car aka thrift shop find!

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day! We had zero plans except going to bed incredibly early and getting more than a few hours of sleep. We got back from a whirlwind trip to Vegas on Wednesday. We went to see some people we kinda like... okay, we love them! They're the only reason we'd drive all that gosh darn way!

We have this list of things to do in Vegas that we do every time we visit. On the list is pick up new UNLV swag for Hubs (his alma mater), eat at yummy restaurants, hit up the thrift shops and the outdoor swap meet.

I gotta say, the outdoor swap meet is totally sad now. It used to be about digging through people's random stuff. Now there is so much "business" which is sad. I do, however, enjoy dragging Hubs kicking and screaming taking Hubs on a magical adventure of thrift shops.

Every time we go somewhere, I always buy something big. I can't help it! For some reason, I still believe our car is like Mary Poppins' carpet bag. It seems like you can fit an entire bedroom set in that sucker.

So when I saw this adorable end table at my favorite Savers, neither of us believed it would be too big for our car. Remember I brought home that awesome avocado chair in my car. I can fit anything in there! We had to put the front seat down flat, then slide it through the front door to the backseat. I still scraped the roof of the car though. There's a lovely little battle scar now. Sorry, Hubs!

Duct tape dollar store mirrors.

Even though I live in the desert, it's still a higher elevation desert making it very cold. These past few weeks it hasn't gotten past 40 degrees as a high. What do you do when you want to spray paint?!

You don't.

I had my revamped starburst mirrors over the fireplace for awhile, but they were bland. We discussed in my last post that I was DWD last year. I knew I wanted something bigger, brighter and more reflective over the fireplace. As it is, we have only one window and it's an east facing window. After the early morning, we don't get much light shining through.

I've seen mirrors at Dollar Tree many times. In fact, I have some really awesome ones (for a later project where I really do need to spray paint). I was wandering around Dollar Tree for Valentine's Day decorations when I came across plain 8x10 silver framed mirrors.

DWD: Decorating While Depressed.

Have you noticed that fall colors are rich and warm like hot chocolate? Then winter colors are often twinkling and jeweled like Christmas ornaments. Spring colors are light and airy like blooming tulips and fresh grass. Summer colors are vivid and bright like summer sun and glistening water.

Well ya know what? When you're depressed, you don't notice that. This past year, I've been fighting with situational depression. We all know where I'm at procreation-wise. I couldn't get into school this semester. The Hubs has been out of town 20 days every month. Work for me has been slim to none. Things just haven't really went my way. There were days where I laid on the couch all. day. long. I was at that point where I felt like I was pretty much useless. I tried to get spurts of energy and to focus, but it always fizzled.

And when you're forced to work on home projects while depressed? Bad things happen. Like painting your living room gray. With gray couches. And dark tables with brass accents. And nothing sparkly or colorful. And only one window and two lamps. Yeah.

2013 is here!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. My mom and grandpa came to visit which was lovely. It's always nice when family comes to visit! It means less driving for us! We finally got to god on the world's longest tram here in Albuquerque. Of course, we pick a day with a 10 degree wind chill. At least we weren't as bad as the guys wearing shorts!

The new year always brings resolutions. I have been debating whether or not to do resolutions. I never keep them. Ever. So instead of vague resolutions that cannot be accomplished, I have specific goals for 2013.

Live with a new motto:
It would be a lie to say I'm not wasteful. I waste money, food, time. In fact, there is a very gray roast in the fridge and we just threw out nearly a full carton of rotten eggs. I didn't get out of my pajamas yesterday until 3pm. So this year I'm living by the motto "Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without." The do without portion will be the hardest to live by.
