Turquoise craft room in progress.

Hello lovelies! I'm writing you from windy as heck New Mexico where it sounds worse inside than it is outside.

And because now that we're homeowners and have to pay for actual gas usage instead of getting an estimate from the apartment people, it's a brisk 63*F in here. Send me slippers, please!

I must remind myself often that Rome wasn't built in a day. I'm so excited about our new casa that I want to redo it all at once! Where are my bags of money? Where is my Scrooge McDuck vault of coins? By the way, did you ever see that episode of Family Guy where Peter fills a vault with coins and goes to dive in like Scrooge McDuck and ends up getting all sorts of messed up? You know because you can't really swim in money.

Anyway, the rule from the husband was "you start and finish each project." Well poopsicles, that's no fun.

So here is my awesome craft room painted a beautiful turquoise (the color is Valspar Turquoise Tint).

Isn't it so pretty? Mind you, I will not be painting our entire house in bright colors like this. I really wanted my craft room to be bold and energetic, so I picked a bright color. My first choice was hot pink but the hubs said no. The next choices were enchanted forest green and tantalizing teal. The green would've required tinted primer. My patience and attention span rival a gnat so that was a no-go. Tantalizing teal was still high up there, but hubs and I agreed it would be better for a smaller space like a bathroom. Turquoise tint won fair and square!

The paint fumes are still dissipating, so I haven't actually put anything in this space. Well, there's some random craft room stuff in there but the majority is sitting my garage. After finding two beefy 'roided roaches in the garage, I want my sweet craft stuff in my craft room NOW!

But there's really no place to put anything just yet. I don't really want the dark brown bookcases I had in my previous craft room. This may actually annoy my wonderful husband but the room would become a dark fortress. I've moved the bookcases in the garage to hold all the lovely leftovers we got when we moved in.

Todd gave me something really truly awesome. This little monstrosity is all mine:

I've been begging and pleading with him to let me paint his dressers. Well,  I still can't touch the older of the two (the one I loathe the most!), but this baby is getting a makeover. It's gonna be purdy...

Okay, that's really all I have to show and tell about... except this gem. This is what happens when you put semi-gloss paint on top of semi-gloss paint in a steamy place. The guest bathroom will be the next on the list for painting. Of course, I still have to scrape paint first. Awesome.

By the by, isn't that pink with the pink tiles just so lovely? Why in the world would they paint that room white?! *cough* sarcasm *coughcough*

Hello from our new abode!

Oy! I'm never moving again if I can help it!

That cute little house I mentioned beforehand? Oh yeah, we got it. We have now lived here for a little under a week. Can I tell you how awesome everything went? Because it did go extremely well!

I cannot say this enough: Find well recommended people and you will never be disappointed. Our realtor and lender were absolutely wonderful. They worked together and answered all our questions. We had a wonderful first time home buyers experience.

Downside? After we moved in, we got hit with a big fat bill. We asked for the swamp cooler to be repaired before moving in. Our realtor suggested someone but the sellers went with another guy who would only do the work after closing. We knew we would be responsible for the difference. No problem because he estimated it would only be an extra 200-300 tops. Okay, great! We go ahead with plans to have the new swamp cooler installed a few days after we move in.

Now, I had heard that if a contractor tells you an estimate, always add more to it. I kinda thought it was an old wives tale. Nope, that is so damn for sure it should be written in stone on a great big monument called, "This stuff is no joke, it's truth!" Our final cost was an extra 900 out of pocket. Thankfully, VERY THANKFULLY, we had extra money but ouch! That wasn't very fun at all.

But now we're moved in and I cannot wait to show you everything we will be doing around the house. Right now we're in the unpacking stage. There is a lot of "where is the..." and "why is this packed with this?" going on. Currently my craft room sits in the garage all sad and morose. I keep visiting it every day explaining that I must paint before putting things away. Apparently the craft room is still offended and won't even speak to me.

Because we're ballers on a budget, things will happen slowly. The two rooms that we are starting with are Todd's office and my craft room. Todd's office is a total hodge podge which is actually quite sweet of him. He took the majority of crap so I wouldn't have to look at it. His room is all his though and he is so happy. EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT he goes to his office and unpacks more stuff, rearranges, makes plans. It's so cute seeing him nesting like that.

I, on the other hand, have unpacked boxes in so many different rooms and haven't actually completely much except the kitchen... but even in there all my spices still sit in their moving box.

Hopefully I will be showing you my super new awesome craft room sometime this next week! I get to pick out paint colors tomorrow!
