- I have noticed that I have been getting more blog hits lately, so I wanted to let you all know that I have changed my comments to allow anonymous comments. Don't abuse the privilege though. I'm all for constructive criticism, but don't be a butt-face. :)
- This post shouldn't be happening. I should be focused on unpacking the craft room (Haha, I almost typed crap room, which in a way, it used to be like that!) and getting pictures of that... but it hasn't fully happened. A few boxes have been unpacked, but I became overwhelmed with all the crap I still need to unpack... and I stopped.
- Ophelia was sick today, so let's all send get better soon wishes to my foster pup. She had to see the vet today at the shelter and wasn't happy at all. She has runny butt and a goopy eye. Nothing some meds won't fix!
- The weather is bound and determined to kill my plants. The wind is ridiculously bad and it's cold! COLD! I had to bring in the three flats of seedlings that were hanging out next to my other plants. By the way, the aphids ate my tomato and jalapeno plant. Bastards. I have other seedlings going but still, that was very rude of them! Going to try spraying with Dawn dishsoap and water. Apparently that'll kill them.
Anyway, the reason I'm writing this entry is for Vintage Revivals' Fearlessly Finding Awesome club. I think I know where she's going with this, so why not hop on for the ride? Today's challenge was to pick a room that needs work. Honestly, all our rooms need work, but the living room is different than the others. We LIVE in our living room. Whether it's watching a movie or browsing the internet or just hanging out, we do it in the living room. Out of all the rooms in our house, we like this one the best.
I think what bothers me is that we have really awesome features in here. Our walls round in making the room feel cozy and interesting. There's an awesome built in next to walk way to the dining room. The fireplace is so nice and pretty. Honestly, this room has so much potential!
Why yes, that is a randomly placed hanging candle holder. It was left with the house and I just took it down today. There are still boxes of video game accessories, we haven't put up our pictures yet... the list could go on.
So I really would love to get the room in shape. Those brass lamps were left behind as well and I love them. I switched out their brown super tall shades with the shades from my blue lamps I got at Big Lots a few years ago. I think it makes the lamps look fresher and more modern.
It's going to take a lot of work, but I have started thinking of ideas and picking up items. I bought this curtain rod at Kohl's for 30 bucks. Our window measures well over 100 inches and those long curtain rods are EXPENSIVE! I got a card in the mail with 10 dollars to spend on anything at Kohl's so I went it. I never shop there, but I found that curtain rod on sale 40% off 60 dollars. Add my 10 bucks and I got it for half off.
I got two packs of these curtains in white for 15 bucks each. When I bought cheap-o curtains for my craft room at Target, it spit out a 50% off two curtain treatments coupons. It was essentially buy one get one free. Because our window is so wide, I plan on sewing two curtain panels together to make one large panel. I decided on white because I plan on removing the non-functional blinds (I broke them) and putting up sheers. I can easily sew those myself. Waiting on a decent coupon for Joann Fabric.
Of course, that's basically it. I moved the loveseat into the dining room/dog room. I then moved Todd's ugly man chair into the living room. The room looks bigger in here and nicer. The problem is the room is so dark. SO DARK! It's a cave in here. In the morning there is sun but by 9am, the sun has moved over the house and it's dark in here.
I have no idea what color I'm going to paint or where I'm going with this room.
I'm loving this Moroc-n-roll stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils and I would love to incorporate it somewhere:
I would love to do a light color but then a bold accent color. Something like a light gray/blue with bold peacock blue or a pinky purple or magenta. Something bright.
Well, that craft room isn't going to unpack itself. Thanks for listening to me babble. I can't wait until the craft room is done! I can then start focusing on the living room.
